Competition

Rules

All films submitted for entry to the competition must comply with the following competition rules and entry requirements:

1) Your competition entry may be submitted on DVD, Blu-ray, or through an online file transfer service such as Dropbox, Google Drive, or WeTransfer to provide alternative popular formats such as MP4, MOV, AVI, or WMA that are acceptable. If your production is in a format other than those listed herein, please contact us to inquire about its acceptability. Your production must not exceed 15 minutes in duration, it must function properly, and be free of any viruses or malware. Please note that the deadline for submission is one week prior to the competition date on 24th October 2024. *

2) You must include a completed competition entry application form and pay the entry fee of £15 in full before your entry can be processed for the competition. **

3) Submissions must not contain sexually explicit, racially offensive, or otherwise inappropriate content.

4) Submissions must not contain animal abuse or cruelty.

5) All intellectual property copyrights associated with your submission must be acknowledged, and any submitted entries' copyrights will be fully respected.

6) Entries will be reviewed for eligibility and those deemed unfit will be rejected and withdrawn from the competition. If any entry is rejected due to failure of adherence to the rules, the sender will be notified about the reason. ***

7) Seven qualifying entries will be selected for the competition. The impartial judges' panel will carefully evaluate each film, using the following criteria: direction, performances, cinematography, editing, sound design, theme and message, technical achievement and overall impact. The judges will confidentially select the winner based on a combination of scores across all categories, with the highest-scoring film receiving the cash prize and a trophy. Please be aware that the judges' decision is final and cannot be contested.

8) The competition winner will be required to publicly accept the competition prizes and they may be asked questions about their film.

9) To participate in this competition, individuals must be at least 18 years of age. By submitting an entry, entrants confirm that they meet this age requirement. Any submissions from individuals under 18 years of age will be automatically disqualified. Please note that this competition may contain material that is not suitable for children, and therefore, is intended for adult participants only. Participants may be required to provide proof of age in order to be eligible for prizes.

* Individuals can submit one entry into the competition either on DVD or Blu-ray by sending it to JC Pictures at 2 Tudor Court, Borehamwood, Herts., WD6 4NZ. Alternatively, you can provide Jason with a link via email for digital transfer. Please ensure that your entry is received at least one week prior to the competition date on 24/10/2024 for it to be considered. It is important to note that any entry that is late, infected with any viruses or malware or does not function properly cannot be accepted. Fees are non-refundable except in exceptional circumstances.

** The entry application form can be submitted via post or by email. Payments of the competition entry £15 fee can be made by cash payment or postal order.

*** We have strict guidelines to ensure that competition entries selected are appropriate for a general audience:

Short films must be 15 minutes or less in length.

Short films can be of any genre, but must be appropriate for a general audience.

Short films must be submitted in English or with English subtitles and must not contain any of the following:

Excessive gore.

Derogatory, racial, or pornographic content.

Extremist or propaganda content.

Religious or political organizations or blasphemy.

Animal cruelty.

Short films must not have been previously released or screened in competition.

Payment methods:

Cash payments: Cash payments can be accepted for entry applications or for spectator admission.

Postal order: A postal order is a prepaid order for a specific amount of money. You can buy postal orders from post offices.
